Organic Green House and Gardens

Inner Journey Hawai’i has a greenhouse and other enclosed growing areas which allows us to produce high quality produce. We are located within a tropical environment on the Big Island of Hawai’i, with extreme fluctuations in weather by which having enclosed growing areas provide a buffer against these factors. Our green houses also provides a longer, more stable, and varied growing environment for pesticide-free fresh produce.

To support Inner Journey’s high-density organic farm we are organized with outbuildings which provide efficient storage for all of the implements needed for the production of produce. Our program focuses on growing sustainable yields of produce, as well as on efficiency and organization on the farm.

We also teach seed preparation for planting and how to grow herbs and micro greens for consumption.

Permaculture

Instructors will show attendees how to efficiently grow their own food to provide a balanced diet. Our goal is to produce a farm to table experience, including propagation, cultivation, harvesting, cooking, and preservation. While we do have wild pigs and other animals on our property we do not raise animals for consumption. Our farm and meals are all vegetarian.

According to the Civil Beat, approximately 85% of food is imported (Terrell, 2022). Our classes will teach how to increase food security and resiliency to natural disasters by re-localizing and diversifying food supply. Our goal is to reduce our carbon foot print by eating the food we grow, to improve our health by offering fresh, organic, pesticide-free food, and increase our physical activity from gardening.

Regenerative tree farming and harvesting

Regenerative farming is one of our core values. This workshops will be about providing a sustainable ecosystem for food production. We have a diverse orchard that, with the right care, gives us coconuts, fruit, and chocolate!  By building healthy soil and sequestering carbon on-site, we will be able to produce locally appropriate crops that will provide a low input, year-round food source. By caring for the land and the limited resources available on the Island, our food production aims to inspire the local community to be more self-sustainable.
