Nutrition and Spirituality

An important part of Inner Journey’s identity is that we maintain a vegetarian diet.

Our fundamental nutritional workshop teaches, “The Spiritual and Karmic Aspects of the Vegetarian Diet,” according to Sant Kirpal Singh.

From examining various religions and mystic traditions throughout human history, we find that most of them recommend or even require vegetarianism.

According to the ancient scriptures of the East, life can be found through various forms: man, animal, bird, reptile, and plant. The least life force is found in plants which is one of the reasons most spiritual leaders encourage a vegetarian diet. The more plants we consume, the less life force we destroy.

From a karmic aspect, ancient Sages believed that by consuming plants, we commit the least amount of sins. Destroying a plant’s life (especially roots, vegetables, and fruits) requires the least amount of pain, which results in the least amount of karma. Thus, the vegetarian diet constitutes the least amount of pain-producing diet and by partaking of these, man contracts the least karmic debt.
